We first tried to trek Bandaje in October but it was un successful because of a cyclone that weekend. Later we again planned it in December.

There are 2 options to trek Bandaje, One from Ujire side where starting point is Narayana Gowda's house and other is from Horanadu side where starting point in Sunksale village. We decided to trek from Ujire side.

We booked KSRTC bus from Bangalore to Dharmasthala. From Dharmasthala we took a Jeep to Narayana Gowda's house in Bandaje Village, On the way we packed our lunch. We hired a guide and started our trek by 9 Am. After crossing many streams and forest we decided to take bath at a big stream on our way. After bath we had lunch as well. We then continued our trek and crossed the forest region by 3 Pm. After forest it is all grass lands and the ascent is very difficult. We were able to see the Arabbi falls (Our camping site) but to reach there it took almost 2 Hrs. The grassland was the most difficult part of the ascent we were taking rest for every 10 to 15 steps. Finally we arrived at Arabbi falls by 5 Pm. Since it was late we quickly took a refreshing bath and pitched our tents. Started preparing dinner and by 9.30 pm we were ready for sleep.

We got a good sleep since we were very tired, It was not too cold out there. We were up again by 6 Am in morning for the sun rise. We climbed the near by hill to get a good view of sun rise. After spending some time there we came back to our tents for break fast. On the way we collected some forest wood for fire.

After the breakfast we packed our stuff and continued towards Ballalarayanadurga fort. The walk from falls to fort is one of magnificent stretch I have trekked till now. Grass was green and the sky was blue wind was cold and the temperature was ideal. The view you get along the stretch is simply beautiful. We took a small diversion and climbed a small hill to get the 360 deg view. The place was so beautiful that we spent around 45 mins sitting there and enjoying the nature. We took some snaps and continued towards the fort.

We reached fort by 2 Pm, View from fort is equally beautiful. We took some rest in fort, had some snack, spent some time and started our descent towards sunksale village. We reached the village by 5.30 Pm. Took a KSRTC bus to Horanadu, booked a room their and got refreshed. Later we visited the temple, had dinner there itself and boarded the bus to Bangalore which we had booked. Totally it was the best trek we had until now.
